Rebranding http://www.austeja.co.uk/Rebranding http://www.austeja.co.uk/following/austeja.co.uk/Rebranding Thu, 18 Apr 2013 12:38:44 +0000 Austeja Jonusauskaite 5418457 RYANAIR: SIMPLY TAKE OFF It took 3.2GB of my dearest Mac's memory, ever-expanding seas of coffee, cookies, chocolate and endless struggles to keep myself inspired, but I finally did it. THE project of the year. It all started from Saul Bass and New! - one sparked interest in branding and advertising in general, the other did a conceptual re-brand of Wikipedia, which once again proved to me that all IS possible. Working as a power couple they inspired me to roll up my sleeves and do a re-brand of my own, so here it goes... I started from a vague idea about how visual image changes perception and gradually progressed into using branding as a tool to convey this thought. Finding the "ideal" brand with a questionable public and visual image was key. After long hours of searching I found that the solution was sitting right under my nose. Ryanair- the answer to all foreign students with winds in their pockets and longing for home in their hearts. I chose it for all the obvious reasons as well as the challenge, which it proposed. The solution was not to simply make the brand visually-pleasing, but to do so while maintaining the unique character which makes up the very essence of this brand. In Ryanair's case it was turning noise into outstanding boldness and cheapness into low-fare simplicity. They are different and I set myself a goal to embrace it in a visually pleasing and customer-aiding way.
